Not screenshots. I need screen recording with simultaneous audio capture.
I want to make youtube screen capture video tutorials.
I am having LOTS of trouble. I've downloaded many, and many don't work anymore for 10.4.
Again. I have a 10.4.11 Mac. Where in god's name can i find an app that works?
I will even pay some money for the app too it doesn't have to only be free.

I'm sure you must have some idea that OS 10.4 (Tiger)…is a very old OS version. Tiger was released back in April, 2005…so this coming April, 2015…Tiger will be 10 years old.

Back in 2005…there were no such things as "Apps"…it was called "software".;) By the time people started developing "apps" like they do today (and distributing them like they do today like is done at the Mac App Store)…they weren't developing them for OS 10.4 "Tiger".

What you need to do is. Find out what the titles of old software titles from back in 2005 (and maybe before) were…then search eBay to see if anyone it still selling it. Or once you know the software titles…search the internet to see if the developer of the title still has "Tiger" compatible versions still available.

The other option of course…is upgrade your computer's OS (if possible) and/or upgrade the computer…so that you can take advantage of newer software that does what you want to do.

Hey Pigoo, does Quicktime come with tiger. I was thinking it does, but real question is it not able to record audio, video or screen capture like current quicklime does now?

If I'm not mistaken, back in Tiger days, one had to purchase a licence for QT Pro to enable recording and I can't recall all the other stuff the QT Pro version enabled.

Believe it or not…Quicktime 1.0 was first released in 1991. By 2005 (with the release of Tiger)…Quicktime was up to version 7. And we are currently on Quicktime 10.x (actually known as Quicktime X).

There was no version 8 or 9…just went from v.7 to Quicktime X (v.10). Quicktime X (10.0) was released in 2009 (along with the release of OS 10.6). And we are currently (with Yosemite) on Quicktime version 10.4.

Quick history of Quicktime version releases!;)

Just came across some info. The first version of Apple owned Final Cut Pro was released in 1998-1999. Final Cut Pro version 5 was released May, 2005 (basically at the same time as Tiger)…so this may be the best version to look for on eBay.

You are correct.:) Quicktime Pro needed a purchased license to unlock the editing, saving, exporting, etc. features.

Fairly certain Final Cut will not record screen and audio on his desktop.

QT 7 can be downloaded from Apple HERE

If you need Pro Key.. Follow this info from Apple..

Here to purchase for 29.99 http://store.apple.com/us/product/D3380Z/A/quicktime-7-pro-for-mac-os-x

I can't think of any current screen recording applications that go back as far as Tiger anymore. You're at least five years behind the bare minimum for any new software releases, 10.6.

All the cat names I forgot Tiger was 10.4..

Looks like a great time for the OP to get a new machine. 10 year old system would struggle making tutorial videos, not to mention all the software would be out dated and no one would watch the videos anyway..

I'm not saying that using OS X 10.4.x is pushing things a bit these days, especially for creating any up to date screen shots and video, but I can't help think that an older version of Snapz Pro X would work for the OP as Snapz Pro X 2.3.2 sure worked well with SL 10.6.x.

And it seems there's a older Snapz Pro X 2.1.3 version available here:
Snapz Pro X - Free Trial Download - Tucows Downloads

Might work..??? But time to upgrade that Mac I'd say. :D

Yea a dual core Mac Mini or a 21" dual core iMac would be loads faster then the OPs current system.

I really couldn't and wouldn't suggest using such a Mac, especially these days, and some of Apple's G5 and many of the Core Duos were among the worst Macs Apple ever released, and oftentimes a G4 would outperform and outlast either of them. ;)

But any G4 is pushing things IMHO, especially for doing any up to date video capture, and I'd suggest a core 2 duo Mac as an absolute minimum.

SO you wouldn't suggest a 2012 or 2014 computer over one made 10 years ago? You do realize while the new 2014 dual core i7 Mini isn't as powerful as the 2012 i7 quad core models. It is still twice as fast as the fastest core 2 duo extreme from 10 years ago. Scoring double everything on every benchmark I have seen. So if you have had a mac for about 6 years or longer, even the entry level Mini is still a step up. But if you need a display and can stand a small 21" screen, the 21" iMac is a better bargain.

No, I was referring to most of the the G5 PPC and "Core Duo" Macs that were terrible, and finally improved with the "Core 2 Duo" models, and the later "i" CPU models.

i.e.: I'd suggest just avoiding the G5 Macs and any "Core Duo" Mac, IMPO.

Ahh got ya..

If the OP doesn't have a monitor he or she is attached to, then I highly recommend getting a 21.5" iMac since it comes with a display, mouse and keyboard unlike the Mini which doesn't and has slightly slower specs.

Best screen recorder for Mac

There are multiple screen recorder for Mac some are free some are paid one. If you are really looking for a best screen recorder for a short simple duration video then use Ice cream screen recorder or Monosnap or Just the inbuilt QuickTime player. Monosnap, Icecream recorder and Jing are the best as they allow you to add annotations and record Audio and Webcam simultaneously. But if you want something more powerful that gives you better quality video without any limitation and lots of features then go for Snagit or Camtasia. There are other such free and paid screen recorders for Mac as well which allow you to do similar thing I found this nice blog post on mac screen recorders app which has listed them together with nice info-graphics and YouTube video on how to use them.
