I have a .mac account in which I configured Thunderbird for it. I haven't had any problem with it until today. It seems that when I open up Thunderbird it just sits there. I don't know if it is loading my mail or what. Is there a way I can cancel the application from running? You know like alt ctrl del in windows. sorry to use that example but I can't get it to stop loading unless I turn off my macbook. Also, what do you think is the problem, it was working fine, and all of a sudden, it just sits there, with nothing on it. Any advice will be helpful.

There's two ways to force quit an application. One is to select 'force quit...' from the blue apple icon. The other is click and hold down the mouse on the application's icon on the dock, after a second or two you see a popup menu where you can force quit.

I can't speak to your Thunderbird issue. Are you automatically checking for email?

I was having an issue identical to the one you've just described. After a few days, Thunderbird becomes unresponsive to the point where it simply "hangs" until I use the force quite function.

I'm not sure what is the cause, but I was using it with .Mac as well.

Any insights would be welcomed!
