Where are you seeing off-brand TB2 to TB3 adapters? The only one I can find on Amazon is more than $30 more expensive than Apple's adapter. There are lots of off-brand Mini DisplayPort to USB-C adapters (connectors are the same shape as TB2 and TB3, respectively), but that would only be for video output.
