Mac mini's are designed for window's people that what to just get their feet wet in the osx experience. They get to use their old keyboard, mouse and monitor. For one thing macs are not geared for gaming. But if you do want to game on a mac i would get an imac with a dedicated video card.

yeah, I have been looking for a mac mini (within my price range, the obvios reason i havent found one yet, hahah) and I have been using macs for 3 years now. Whats the problem with a mini besides the fact they do not have intergrated monitors, which reminds me... that makes it EVEN BETTER as a media center PC, which mine would be used for...

they aren't as expandable as imacs and they are usually a cpu generation behind. And they dont have dedicated videocards.

Well put it this way, Apple are either going to upgrade the Mini to C2D, or drop it. They keep rattling on about 64-Bit in Leopard, so it would make sense to upgrade it.

But saying that, the Core Duo 1.83ghz isn't a slow beast by any stretch of the imagination, in fact, I'm currently using an iMac with a Core Duo 1.83ghz Processor (WHICH I'M STILL SELLING - HINT HINT - SEE SIG), it has 1.5GB of Ram and is very fast.

The only thing that lets the Mini down is the graphics and utterly crap-tacular value for money.

these are some pictures of the system, it is fairly speedy since i upgraded the ram. i actually bought it from ghostshadow on these very forums. I have decided since that I would prefer a powermac g4 or mac mini, possibly imac g5 to use as a desktop. I just like OS X better. Pm me if you are interested and have one of the systems listed above. The system runs great, is installed with XP, has a mid level videocard. Thought i would post the pictures as a last hope before giving up on this, thanks for looking.

I have a Mac Mini with 2.16GHz C2D and 2GB RAM (my own add ons) that works just fine for most of the low tech gaming I do. It plays Splinter Cell and America's Army just fine. Considering I picked up the Mini with a 1.5GHz Core Solo for 3 and 1/2 C's at an online auctions site, I'm pretty happy. If you get a Mini, snag yourself a low budget Core Solo Mini that's already out of warrant and build what you like IMHO.
