The problem: after 3 days of normal use (in my pocket with nothing else in the pocket) my Nano is riddled with minute scratches. Since it is black, these scratches stand out.

The solution: Is there anything that I can buy to remove scratches

Yeah man, anything made by Apple that is portable needs protection because it easily scratches. Got Tucano for my ibook and Agent18 for my iPod right when I bought them. That's the only beef I have with Apple.

Would these work? I would on;y be using it on the front as I plan on brushing the back.

those should do the trick in the meatime, but i would highly recommend an iskin once available. it protects against drops very well

that's why i got the white nano. i have the same problem w/ the PSP. i swear that thing is just a fingerprint/scratch magnet. :)

i don't even bother w/ removing the scratches anymore, since i know they'll just come right back.

If you don't want it scratched, leave it in the box.

kinda defeats the point of buying it in the first place. unless you're just a collector.

i always draw a line between protecting whatever i have and actually using it. so it gets a couple of scratches/nicks, as long as you get good usage out of it, does it really matter in the long run?

I used Zildjian Cymbal Polish on my iPod and it looks better than that Ice Cream.

It just kinda detracts from the overall look of the ipod if it is all scratched up. Maybe I'm being overprotective or paranoid but I like apple products to stay pretty if I can help it.

i have a 3rd gen ipod that is in Mint condition...i use it every day, my secret to a scratch free ipod and it sounds stupid are the ipod socks, i keep my pod in the sock alll the time other than when its docked in the car and i use the ipod remote.

the socks all though they are like 50$ CDN they are totaly worth it, the iskins are okay too but i find alot of dust and dirt get in behind the skin and start to scratch the pod, as well the lint that gets stuck on them, but the number one worse thing is the ones with the belt clip on the back has a plastic part on this inside that will scratch the back fo the pod

Ipod socks all the way !!!!

That is the great thing about the minis. They are tough little buggers, and my silver one is nearly impossible to scratch (unless you actually TRY to...)

It was a rhetorical remark. :dummy:

I too have a very tough Mini, I don't have a case or a skin or a sock (oh pleeeeeease!) for it, and it is in perfect conditions, it just sits in my bag or pocket. Well, I should actually say that it WAS in mint conditions until Thursday last week when, while wrestling with the headphones cable, I managed to pull it out of the pocket and fling it in the middle of the street. I recovered it but now the bottom is seriously dented, but hey, I bought it to use it and I am afraid that accidents happen while using stuff. At least it didn't get run over!

at long as it works. my ipod mini is like a tank, too. i got a cover for it but never used it because it blocked the screen and it was a dust bunny magnet.

How about Nano condoms?

Perhaps you should wrap your Nano in a condom! I think this would make a marvelous marketing strategy: buy a Nano, get a box of condoms. Perhaps we can seek funding from the Bill & Melanie Gates Foundation!

(oops...I hope condom isn't a banned word!)

New strategy for avoiding scratches

I avoid the problem of scratches by leaving my Nano in its box. I can then look at the box whilst using my Mini and pretend that I am using the Nano. I thus avoid scratches and the danger of breaking the screen!
