Please help in language a 60 year-old female can understand. :)

My 2009 MacBook Pro has developed 66 GB of blue "other" in the storage. It has left me with only 5.3 GB out of 159.00 of storage. I'm sure this topic has been discussed many times, but can someone help a girl out please? I am a photographer so I need space to store pics. The computer is running like I was back on dial-up. I need to get rid of the "other"! Thanks so much!

Frankly, if you're a photographer, you're not going to store much of anything on a 160 GB drive.

You really need to upgrade the hard drive in that machine.
With 5 GB free, I would have to guess that machine is running like someone using a walker - on a good day.
And I hope you're keeping good backups.

See this post related to "Other".

edit:
But, bottom line, you're going to have to go through your personal files and decide what can be deleted or moved to another drive.
First things to do, check and make sure your trash has been emptied.
Second thing to look at, do you have a bunch of stuff you've got stored in the Downloads folder you no longer need? Like apps downloaded and already properly installed - like leaving the .dmg file behind, etc.?
