Someone, please put me out of my misery!

I just bought a digital copy pack for a class in graduate school. Save the trees, etc. I was obliged to download with Adobe Digital Editions. I grant that it allows me to highlight and maybe even copy text and print. However... I have never used such an awful piece of software in my life! It's so bloody slow to scroll and the text leaps instead of scrolling smoothly, I keep having to hunt for where I left off reading as a result and I am getting a headache after two pages. When I use gestures to swipe instead of arrow keys, it leaps forward for several pages at a time. I'm absolutely at my wit's end.

Supposedly, there are other softwares that use the Adobe ID system. Can anyone here tell me if there is something with similar highlight and cut and paste functionality for my OS x platform, and maybe for iOS, too, if I decide to get an old ipad for this purpose?

I'm going to print this really soon and screw the whole digital thing if I don't find a rather immediate solution.

Thanks for helping to contribute to my sanity and save some trees!

I did a search and this is what I found that offered several suggestions:

Adobe Digital Editions Alternatives and Similar Software - AlternativeTo.net

I feel your pain. I have tried the digital format and I prefer the paper editions because I tend to highlight, post-it note, and tab my textbooks to the extreme. I learn by physically making note in margins. I had an awful time with digital formats. Hope you find a better solution.

Yeah, I did some searches, too, including one at Adobe for compatible software for Adobe ID. I asked here because the list is full of eReaders but that doesn't tell me if they can highlight, annotate and copy/paste. And very few seem to be available (none?) for OS X It would seem Bluefire is the best option for tablets, but that doesn't help my desktop problem.

Thanks,

So, I'm writing in to answer myself and for anyone else's benefit who might be interested.

I have tried about 20 readers thus far. Bluefire, Moon+ Reader and Mantano all support DRM. The first is free and won't work for me for some buggy reason it gives me blank pages... However, for a modest fee, Moon+Reader and Mantano both do reflow, though you can't highlight in reflow on Moon+... So the winner is Mantano for something like $7.

Cheers,

Thanks for posting back. I will check it out. I have a friends who are educators and this question may come up again.
