[QUOTE="hokiethang, post: 19752"] Yeah just to add to this and some of the other statements that have been presented. Dell has also had slumping quality issues. I operate a couple of computer labs at Virginia Tech (Home of the #3 super computer in the world :-D) and a number of our labs use Dell machines. Our newer machines (1 year old, last week) purchased from Dell have started to develop failing hard drives, and at an alarming rate. We have 30 machines in this room, we have had to replace 10 Hard drives in the last 2 weeks. 1/3 of those hard drives have failed under normal use. I would definitely never purchase a Dell for myself, and if I were given a dell, I would destroy it, because something that crappy does not deserve to exist. My workstations in my office are machines that I put together with 3rd party parts (and a G4 450) since I refused to use the Dell that was purchased for my office. I love my mac machines and anything not made by the new Dell. To their credit though, their older machines were rock solid machines and at one time would have been a very nice machine for my needs, but as they keep trying to drop the price they have started to use lower and lower quality parts. The Mac may cost more, but will last you at least 4 years, as proven by my G4 450, which was rescued from going to auction, that I still use daily alongside my windows 2003 box and red hat linux box.
