I am not a networking neophyte, but I am stumped. My MacAir cannot reach wireless speeds more than 10 mbps, but all of my other devices regularly download more than 30mbps. I really have not changed any network settings, but I must have something configured incorrectly in networking settings.

My MacAir is 10' from my router, no obstructions. My 2nd generation iPad is 100' away with many obstructions and gets 30 mbps downloads. My iPhone 6 sitting next to my MacAir gets 30 mbps downloads.

I've not restricted anything on my router, so I am not blocking or throttling the Mac Address of my MacBook Air.

I'll answer some router questions, but its not the router:
- 2.4 single band
- Linksys WRT54G2 v1
- no channel conflict
- it is a 802.11 b/g router
- max rate of 54 mbps
- signal strength of 71%
- WPA2 Personal security

Why would this one device, my main one, my Mac Air not reach 30 mbps download speeds?

OSX 10.10.2, 13 " mid 2011, 1.7 ghz, 4 gig ram, 121 gig hard drive
