Its my first time running a benchmark and seem to be getting odd results.

My Computer:
Cinebench R23:
Intel Core i7-8700B (2018 MacMini)
Multi: 7084 pts
Single: Single: 1160

Reference:
Cinebench R20:
Intel Core i7-8700B
Multi: 2633
Single: 452

Why are the scores drastically different for the same processor? Does it matter that the 2 benchmarks were generated on 2 different version of Cinebench? Is the score affected by how much RAM is in the machine being tested?

I have the same Mac Mini and will run the benchmark later today to see what I get. I ran it briefly with a lot other stuff running and my numbers were around 6xxx for multi which is like 3-4x more than what the reference numbers were.

Yeah it’s strange. This benchmark was with all my apps closed down and WiFi off etc. And I’m running 32GB RAM which I’m not sure will make a different.

I have a buyer on standby and am wondering whether to sell my MacMini and get the new M1 Mini released next week but if my figures are correct, my current machine is still significantly more powerful. This can’t be right?

Cinebench R23:
M1
Multi: 4530
Single: 987

If you could let me know your scores as soon a poss that would be amazing :)
