Using sudo & username I get a prompt for my password, but when I type in my login password, nothing happens. No asterisks appear to represent password letters and the cursor doesn't move as I type it, so is it even registering? I've tried my password several times and am sure I'm typing it correctly. Is there another password I'm supposed to have to use terminal? What else might I try?
Thanks.

Is it only Terminal that's acting weird and does the regular OS X part behave correctly? Or is it the whole installation that is wonky?

You can use the terminal app with using the sudo command. The sudo command give you privilege access for a short period of time. What are you trying to do that you need sudo?
