Everything was getting pretty slow a few years back.
Why didn't we just get a new Mac?
Well, we like a challenge, trying to save the planet etc.
So we swapped to a SSD and great!
Solved our boot and running speed issues brilliantly.
Everything good for a while but recently...
1. Panic shutdowns several times a day.
2. Trackpad not tracking finger movements smoothly.
Tried different make of SSD, but exactly the same issues.
Did loads of diagnostics - nothing obvious.
On the point of tackling replacing the trackpad, battery etc.
Get a new device? Not yet...
Just on a hunch, we tried going back to the original drive.
Everything is rather slow - but issues above solved!
So what's going on?
How to get the advantages of SSD on an antique Mac without these issues?
Any ideas?
Thanks.
