My Macbook (summer '07 model) has begun this odd habit of spontaneously restarting. It will do it at least thee times a week, I have no idea what the problem is. Any suggestions/ideas?

thanks

There seems to be no pattern in when it restarts, or what programs I'm using when it happens. I'll keep track from now on though.
What do you mean by third-party OS enhancements? Apps?

The condition on my battery is categorized: "replace soon", would that have anything to do with it? Although this has happened when its plugged into the wall, and when its running solely on the battery.

Sorry I couldn't give you more info.

Two things that may cause spontaneous restarting:

1. Bad memory

2. Power supply intermittent (fluctuations)

Use your install DVD to run the Apple Hardware Test on your machine. Choose the extended test. See the following LINK.

Yes, sort of "mini-apps" that make your Mac do things that the OS wouldn't do otherwise, thus, an "enhancement".

Battery condition seems like a possible culprit.

alright thanks for the info, I think I'm going to take it into an Apple Store and see if they can do anything. That Apple Care should be good for something, right?

I didn't end up taking it in, but they don't seem to be happening anymore (fingers crossed) so I'm just gonna wait it out. Thanks for the help
