Sony Vaio wi-fi card in G3 ibook?

You can still find AirPort cards for roughly the same price, and there's no need for third-party drivers.

but its 802.11b i want a. the airport cards sucks i think. can't get good reception.

I hadn't noticed that you mentioned 802.11a, but no, AirPort cards don't "suck".

ahh you see but your trying to convice someone that been using PC all his life that airport doesn't suck. We PC users are stubborn, just like you mac folks.

So basically the idea of a airport being in the middle of the laptop with no antenna being shown doesn't exactallly appeal me to how it get greats reception.

So is the Airport card a PCMCIA card?

The AirPort card, which you can see being installed in the link you provided (although the card being shown is the Sony one, the AirPort installation is identical), utilizes an antenna that is built-in to the computer and plugs into the card. The reception on most models is actually quite good, especially iBooks.
