We have just updated our faithful early 2010 MacBook Pro 13 with a nice shiny new MacBook Air M2 13 and a bit" and I'm now getting all of the applications I want on to it.

I have upped the OS to 14.3 and the Safari, 17.3 looks OK, but is there any way that I can put my bookmarks bar across the top of the window above the tab bar where it is on my iMac running Safari 17.2.1? It's a real pain having to open the side panel, then the folder to find the bookmark I want.

Hi John

I hope this is what you meant!

Open Safari. Click on the small rectangle under File:

S1.jpg

That opens up a side view like this:

S2.jpg

Here are your Favourites. Open the disclosure triangle to view them, remove some, add some.

That's what appears along the top of Safari. It's the Favourites bar, if you like.

Is this what you meant?

Hi Ian and thank you for your reply. It's the one you called Favourites bar across the top.

N problems finding the one at the side, but as I said, it's a pain in the situpon to keep on going through the hoops to open it up.

This is what's on my iMac and what I want on my new toy

Try this then:

Very top bar adjacent to Apple icon, then Safari: Click on "View". From dropdown, choose Show Favourites Bar.

That should do it.

Blimey Ian, as simple as that  I was looking for something much more complicated, but you must understand that if I can't 'it it wiv a 'ammer then it's difficult. I will also say that when I do 'it owt then I never force it, I use a bigger ''ammer instead

Thank you again mate!

I have just realised that I had started this thread to ask a question about CCC. I found the answer and started another thread, but forgot to change the heading o_O So,I'm sorry if it has caused any confusion? Is there any way I can change it to reflect what I am on about?

The thread title changed to something that is hopefully more accurate.

Thank you SD. One day I'll catch up with this techy stuff, but by then I expect it will have moved on

You're welcome.

Don't feel bad if it seems like you're having trouble keeping up with tech changes. It happens to all of us at one time or another.

It's a little like signing up to run a race. Just when you get to where you can see the finish line some guy taps you on the shoulder and says, "Didn't they tell you we moved the finish line? :D It's in that direction."

Must be quite a jump, from what I suppose was MacOS High Sierra to macOS Sonoma (it should be 14.3.1 by the way).
You're going to find lots of similar examples to the one you refer to in post #6.
Don't hesitate to ask us questions, there ain't no "silly" ones.;)

We have had an iMac M1 on Ventura for about 18 months now. That was to replace our iMac late 2009 21 ½ jobbie. These Macs just don't last do they  So the change to Sonoma wasn't a problem Rod.
