Hello poeple.

I own a macbook 1.1 which had snow leopard running on it. Still love it to bits, allthough some small problems have emerged, which I can't seem to find a solution for on my own... Ergo my presence on this forum!
So I will fire away with the problems then.

1. Can't Decompress .zip's.
The standard app that comes with snow leopard doesn't work for it. So I installed Stuffit to do the job. Does work, but only sometimes, other times Stuffit crashes without any given reason.
This means I can't install some apps that make use of zipfiles that decompress while installing.

2. DVD-drive doesn't recognise any discs.
Well, as it says, it doesn't recgnise a disc, unfortunately.
It begins to spin, you can hear it rev up and down, so it does something, but nothing actually happens... Can it be a driver?

3. Bleutooth is a bit moody.
I can make a connection to my phone, but it stops there. I can't download or upload anything between my phone and the mac.
At some point, it even said there is no bluetooth module present in the mac.
And some 10 mins later the module was back up again.

Are these problems somehow linked? Any help is very much appreciated!

1. What zip files? Files downloaded from legitimate 3rd party vendors? If so, give us an example of one, so that we can test it out. Files downloaded from torrent sites? You get what you pay for there. (imho) And could be just bad downloads you're having issue with.

2. Only DVDs don't play? or CDs also? Grab yourself a cleaning disc and give that a go. Could be a dead drive.

3. What phone?

1.Any zipfile, actually. I don't do torrents.

2. Drive recognises normal cd's! I guess I didn't give that a go, since I rendered them all the same :D Will give the cleaner CD a go.

3. Well, used my own LG viewty, which worked fine when i still had tiger running. Also tried some nokia's from friends.
Am going for an Iphone soon, except when I can't get my bluetooth working.
Think that will maybe make a difference?

1. I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling Stuffit. If that doesn't work, then I'd try removing the Stuffit preference file which would be in "your home folder / Library / Preferences". Shouldn't really need Stuffit for most regular downloads. Haven't had to install it since I installed 10.6.

3. Can't help you with bluetooth and a phone. The iPhone is the only "smartphone" I've ever owned. As for the iPhone... if you're in the U.S, there is no tethering and bluetooth only works with headsets and speakers by default.

Have seen conflicting reports on the viewty.
