I'd be a little concerned about the heat issue, especially if it is a constant thing. This is a widely reported problem with Macs, especially after the 10.5.7 update. I Googled excessive heat in Mac laptops and found this post. There are a bunch of hits on this subject, so maybe it might be worth the time to go through some. I had a burning chunk of metal for a laptop after the 10.5.7 install and it would lock up after going into sleep mode. This is a unconventional solution but a Apple Creative buddy heard this on a recent tech podcast. I gave it a try and it worked. The overheating issue may be connected to a lack of a Ethernet interface listed under your available network services. This was a solution for my MacBook Pro. Open System Preferences: Network. In the left hand column you'll have a list of available network services. If Ethernet isn't listed, hit the + sign at the bottom of the column. From the popup window, select Ethernet under the Interface pull down and hit Create. That is it. Your laptop will now rest a little easier. On the matter of a repair facility, I had an issue with my MBP. I took it in to a Genius who in turn sent it to the following repair facility. You might give them a call to get advice on how to proceed. That phone number looks like it might be to Apple Support, don't know for sure. Authorized Repair Center 4949 Windfern Road Houston, TX 77500 800-275-2273 Here's another location in Southern California: Tech Room 1835 Newport Beach, CA 92627 949-706-5852 TechRoom
