My macbook I got in 2006 has worked completely fine up until a couple months ago. The right shift and down and right arrow keys stopped working altogether. I kind of just shrugged this off as while it was annoying I didn't really *NEED* to use those keys to operate the computer. Now last night the main enter key stopped working. I'm fine with that, I just need to get used to using the extra enter key at the bottom.
But I'm worried about losing keys that I absolutely need. Is there any way to reverse the damage or prevent it from spreading? I know I've had this laptop for a long time now but in all other ways it suits me fine and I'd rather not spend another thousand or so to replace it(I've tried to use windows again and I just can't stand it).

Another tip: stop eating and drinking (or letting other people eat and drink) near your computer.

I'm not saying that IS what happened here, but I worked as a Mac tech for years, and based on that I have a feeling I know what you're going to see when you replace the keyboard.

As it's already been mentioned you can fix it yourself or have Apple replace the keyboard for you. If you don't need the portability of your laptop much then you can also buy an external keyboard and use it instead of the built in keyboard.

If you position it right you can even place the external keyboard on top of the built in keyboard without having it press any of the built in's keys. Replacing the internal keyboard is the better solution if you use your laptop away from your desk often.
