Hey guys,

I have a 2.5 year old MacBook - it has been great. However over the last few months, it has been slowing down.

I normally run Adobe Lightroom for processing photos, often in conjunction with MS Office, in different desktop "windows." I usually have email running too in another window. Recently, after a few hours use, I find that one of the applications may hang or unexpectedly quit. Or I may try to sync the iphone and the whole system hangs and needs hardware rebooting. This never used to be the case !

The machine's spec is : 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM. I noticed it took longer to boot up ever since I upgraded the operating system to OS 10.5.8, but it still ran fine afterwards until a few months ago.

If anyone can help me on sorting this out I'd be very grateful !

THanks,

John.

I would suggest using an application like OnyX (make sure to get the right version for your version of OS X) and running through some of the maintenance tasks there to see if that helps. That would be a first good start. Let us know how that works out.
