Hello,

We are provided with free WiFi at work (for personal use, not work use).
I've never had a problem with it until recently - about two weeks ago - when my Macbook started to run very very slowly online.

I thought it might be a Mac issue as my colleagues with PCs had no online problems - but another colleague with a Macbook (lower spec than mine!) has no issues. We sat them side by side and his loaded pages and sites instantly, whereas mine took up to a minute per page?

I'm still pretty new to Macs, so I don't know where to look, what to check etc.

I thought I'd send in this post to ask advice, what could have happened, where should I look etc?

Couple of bits of info:
Macbook wireless fast and easy when at home, just at work is slow.
Performs slightly better on Safari than Firefox (latest 3.6) - but still slow.
I think that this happened shortly after latest OS X update?
Employer is a large organisation, I have no access to info re their wireless set-up.
Macbook working perfectly apart from this issue.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Cheers, CB

Oops! Apologies all, I think I may have posted this in the wrong forum?
It's almost certainly not a hardware issue.

Admin: Please could you advise me of correct forum and delete if appropriate?

Sorry.

Are you both on same OS?
Try setting up a Location for work and one for home, see here and check Sys Prefs>Network>Airport>Advanced to see if DNS for yours works ISP are showing up under the DNS heading. See here Depending on OS you may want to add them, if u can find them - Primary and Secondary DNS numbers

Hi Collin Bl

Been a busy day at work and didn't have much chance to 'play' with Macbook.
But I think you may be onto something here - I did notice that the DNS column had many more numbers in it at work than when at home.
Have asked the IT dept (who are in charge of WiFi re the correct DNS numbers and will proceed from there when (if) they get back to me.

May be better to close this topic and post the next question in the Airport/Networking forum?

Thanks again for your help so far.
Regards, CB
