"I'm no Mac expert -- can you tell me how to repair permissions and run crons? Thanks for your help." Neither am I, just read a lot of posts ;) This help isn't free by the way... when you're up & running again you have to go to my bands website and download our free songs and post in our guestbook... english is fine & makes people think we're an internationally recognised act ;): www.ampliphonic.de Anyway back on topic: Disk permissions & crons: To repair disk permissions go to applications -> utilities -> disk utility and select your volume on the left (should be called os x or something...) Then hit repair permissions at the bottom of the middle box. Crons: Well I think these are regular 'cleanup' tasks that os x has to do sometimes. You can access these through the terminal somehow, but I just use the app 'Macjanitor' instead. Find it on versiontracker, download it and then run 'all tasks'. If none of these work, maybe you need to call Apple...
