Sleep mode and internet connection

Is there a way I can close my notebook (engaging sleep mode) and still download?

Basically, is there a way I can be downloading overnight without leaving the notebook open and running full blast?

Download the InsomniaX program. Your screen will go to sleep but your computer will not go into a full sleep mode.

Turn your screen brightness down all the way, and mute it. It won't bother you then.

yep thats the best cure for htis problem.. there is no way to put a comptuer to sleep and yet still have it do work.

I do it all the time. By putting the macbook to sleep they mean closing it. I do it all the time. I just turn on InsominaX and when i close my macbook it doesn't stop working or stop my internet connection. I wouldn't advise doing it while video encoding though. The macbook can get quite hot.
