I was reading a Wikipedia article about cuneiform. I didn't see any. My Mac will display Chinese, Japanese, Korean characters, but not cuneiform. The cuneiform characters show as boxes. How do I get my computer to display cuneiform or other characters?

In a related question...

Can you recommend font-creating software? I'd love to create a language & also create a font. I'm sure that there are a bunch of programs that will run on a Mac.

System Preferences, Language & Region, Preferred languages. Click on the small + at the bottom of the dialog and then scroll down until you find what languages you would like to write in. Choose the language, and then choose the input source. For example: I have Korean chosen as a language in addition to English. Korean has four input sources or keyboards that can be selected.

Isn't that for keyboards & menus & stuff like that?

I think that it has something to do with HTML.

For example, I go to Wikipedia's article on the Klingon alphabet & I can see the letters. But if I go to Wikipedia's article on cuneiform & scroll down to "Syllabary", I see square blue boxes instead of the cuneiform. I'm using cuneiform as an example. I don't understand why I can see the Klingon alphabet but not the cuneiform. Maybe it has to be included in Unicode in order to be displayed.

Is there a font package that I can download?

Do you have an explanation as to why certain characters are displayed on a webpage & certain characters aren't?

The information I included is so that you can write in other languages and using different characters. In some of the work that we do we have to mix Korean and English. It's not just the keyboard, it's the ability to write correctly using another language that does not conform to the Roman alphabet.

I have no idea if there is a font package you can download, however, if Cuneiform is not included in the supported languages it won't do you any good anyway.
