VMFusion and Snow Leopard I had two machines to update today - and as far as I can tell, at the moment, all went well, except that one machine needed the WEP code inputting to allow access to the router. This didn't happen on the other machine and all went well. On my 24" iMac I have VMFusion under which I run Windows XP as a virtual machine. Concerned that I might break something, I rang Apple Care to try to find out if there were any issues that I needed to be aware of, with VMFusion on the machine. After a long wait, during which the guy consulted someone else, he came back with the answer, "We don't think it will cause any problems, but you'd better contact VMFusion about it, just in case". In other words, "We don't know." I'd have thought that Apple would have checked for any incompatibilities with VMFusion and Parallels??? So, on to VM - Much the same kind of laid back response. "No, it should be OK just to install". But no evident knowledge that it would be ok! "Right" I said "so I just shut down Fusion and then install?" - note that he had not suggested that I shut down Fusion! But the answer was, "Yes, that's probably a good idea". I get the feeling that nobody really cared! However, I went ahead - the new OS was up and running in 37 mins (which I thought was pretty good, given that the estimate was 50 mins at the outset) and, so far, apart from that network problem on one machine, anything else I've used seems to function as normal - including Windows XP under VMFusion - so, if you too are wondering - go ahead.
