The Share Menu is missing from System Preferences>Extensions. Therefore I don't have any Sharing options in any of the programs on the computer.

I've tried Apple's "Terminal" fix, but nothing worked. I'm running Sierra 10.12.5.

"Sharing" is not actually a menu item (drop down menu)...it's one of the apps/icons in the System Preferences window. The "Sharing" system preference extension is still there on my computer running Sierra.:)

Nick, thanks for responding. I understand what you are saying, but the "Sharing" system preference extension is missing from my list, while still running Sierra. I have searched high and low for a resolution for this and can't find anything to get them back. My wife's computer still has it after she upgraded to Sierra, so...I'm not sure what is so special about my computer! Thanks again for the response.

Just so we know...what exact computer models are we dealing with (wife's computer & your computer). I know the thread title says "Mac Pro"...but there are a lot of different Mac Pro models. And hopefully you're referring to a "Mac Pro" desktop computer...and not a MacBook Pro (which some folks mistakenly refer to as a "Mac Pro").;)

In any case...I'm pretty sure the computer model shouldn't make a difference. And as you saw...the "Sharing" system preference is on your wife's computer running Sierra. The only explanation's I can think of why it's not on your computer are:

- a file or files got accidentially deleted
- a file or files have gotten damaged
- a file or files were moved out of the folder where they belong

A couple thing's you can try are:

- Do an NVRAM reset (internet search for the procedure).
- Run the free maintenance app called "Onyx". Maybe if a file got damaged or a permissions file got damaged...it can repair it.

HTH,

- Nick

My apologies for posting some confusing items. I'm working on my computer, a Macbook Pro Retina running 10.12.5. My wife's Macbook Pro works fine, running the same OS, just a little bigger screen and hard drive. I ran the NVRAM reset and ran Onyx as well and nothing has resolved the issue.

Are you actually logged into accounts to share with in System Preferences>Internet Accounts?

Open System Preferences and see the little box at the top with three rows of four dots?

Move cursor over it and hold down for several seconds and Sharing should come up there. You can then drag it to the pane below.

Ferrarr, Thanks for your response! I am logged into accounts that are available to share. The only one that even offers a "Share Menu" is my Facebook acct. Even then, when I try to "check" or select the box for the "Share Menu", it won't select. It's not grayed out either. Appreciate the help!

Harry, Appreciate the input. The Sharing that is missing is within the System Preferences>Extensions and it is the "Share Menu" option. The actual "Sharing" icon in under System Preferences is still there, but that is not where I am having the problem. Thank you for offering an option.

I just downloaded Sierra and installed it and the issue still remains. So, if anyone else has some suggestions, please let me know. I'm very much open to alternative options. Thanks again for all of your help!

I'm coming in a bit late here, but I'm having trouble understanding what your actual "Sharing" problem is.

Do you have any "Sharing" pref pane in your System Preferences window?
If so, does it or does it not work?

If not, can you take a shot of your System Preferences window and post it?

And as Bob has asked, what's the Apple's Terminal fix you are referring to???

EDIT:
Do you have a "Sharing pref" similar to this and does it open???

Patrick, OP is referring to the Extensions Page in System Preferences.

@mackeup, test by creating another user account on your Mac, see if the option is available there.

I created a new user account and the Share Menu shows up in this account and is functioning as it is supposed to function. How then do I modify the Admin account to have the same feature?

Patrick,
Thanks for the advice and option. I have tried that numerous times already. This is the "Terminal" fix that I was referring to earlier. I think I might try reinstalling El Capitan to see if it comes back and then upgrade to Sierra.

Alright, I thought it would be good to show you guys what I am seeing in the event that I'm not explaining it correctly. The first picture shows that I do have the "Sharing" folder icon in System Preferences. That has always been there. Sharing.jpeg
This second picture shows the System Preferences>Extensions missing the Share Menu option on the left.
Missing Share Menu.jpeg

When I created the new user account, the menu included the "Share Menu".

I'd suggest that mackeup might want to just try downloading and running the appropriate Mac OS X COMBO Update from Apple's software download site after doing Bob's suggestions.

They should be available here:

So I tried downloading El Capitan from the App Store and it says that I couldn't because the Install file was too old for my device? Upon further investigation, they were recommending that I make a complete back-up of the computer on a hard drive, make a bootable install drive, and then wipe the computer clean. The article also said to not use a Time Machine back up for the computer hard drive, but to use TM AFTER the installation of El Capitan. I also ran the Combo update that was recommended earlier. I also ran Malwarebytes and only one file was removed and the issue still persists.

I'm at a loss now because this is starting to require more money invested and also some technical savviness that I don't feel comfortable with attempting, especially for this type of a feature. Am I missing something here with trying to revert back to an older OS?
