My girlfriend recently purchaced a second hand Macbook with Lion installed. Upon a fresh install she noticed iLife could not be installed through the store as it is registered to the previous owner. I was wondering if there was anyway round this problem as the 'Buy' button is not an option it just says 'Accept'

Thanks

Probably your best bet is to buy the Lion USB for $69 direct from Apple, that way she will have a legal copy of OS X 10.7 registered to her, a Recovery Drive (always handy) and access to the APP Store to purchase iLife (iPhoto, iMovie etc)

Thanks for the reply,

With the machine already coming with lion pre-installed, will the usb still work as a fresh install, i.e. lion over lion?

I went to the Questions and Answers at Apple to double check and this is what I found:

"Clean Install

i already bought lion from the app store, and now i want to do a clean install so that i can have my mac back to the way it was when i 1st got it, but I've lost the disk's that came with my iMac, so if i buy the lion usb thumb drive will i be able to do a clean install like the way you can do with the disks you get with the computer?

Yes, it will!
Once you buy the Thumb USB Drive, it's possible to boot you're MAC from it. This way, you'll be able to do a clean install of the OS and run any other utility's, like one used to do with an OS Installation DVD.
Once you have the Thumb USB Drive, forget any other versions of the OS! Having the USB Drive, will be like having an OS Installation DVD!"

Which is pretty much what I thought.
