Seagate Backup Plus Slim... Portable External Drive

Comments appreciated from anyone using this product. Easy to set-up? Time Machine compatible? I'm running Catalina on a new MacMini. Thank you.

It is a drive. It should work. Don't use any of the software that comes with it (If you want to keep it for some reason, copy it to someplace to keep). Format the drive with Disk Utility. Make it GUID for partitioning, one partition, and MacOS Extended (journaled) for the partition format. That should be fine for TM.

It is also quite possible that when you plug in the EHD after a minute or so you will be asked something along the lines of, "You have connected a new blank External Hard Drive, would you like to use it for Time Machine Backups?" If this happens say Yes. The EHD will then be erased, formatted and setup as your Time Machine Backup in System Preferences.

Used my Ultra Slim for several years. Sometimes it needs a few insertions into the port before being recognised, that's all.
