Hi all:

I have a mid 2010 MacBook running OSX 10.9.5

While online, my scroll pad stops working. DOesn't matter if I'm using Safari, Firefox or Chrome.

I've reset the preferences and sometimes that helps, but after a while it stops working again.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Glenn

You din;t specify exactly what's not working.

- Can't move the cursor.
- Can't do any gestures.
- Can't do "tap to click.
- Can't do a physical click.

One common problem when trackpad issues occur is a swelling/swollen battery.

Yup...your right.

What happens is that the screen will not scroll up or down. I have to use the scroll bar to move the page around vs. the two finger thing.

Sorry 'bout that.

No problem at all…just trying to clarify what is & isn't working.:)

Any chance the trackpad preferences accidentally got altered?

- Apple Menu
- System Preferences
- Trackpad

Then check all the settings for the trackpad. Making sure that the function you mentioned is activated (box checked).
