I recently put Screen Spanning Doctor on my iBook, and since I didn't have a VGA-DVI converter for my Apple display, used it "temporarily" with my old Sony HMD-A400 19" CRT. This CRT is said to have a max resolution of 1600x1200. To my surprise, it came up with a max resolution on my iBook as something strange, like 1834 x 1300 something. They were in that range, but the numbers seemed a bit random. Of course it was possible that the SSD simply allowed for ALL resolutions when it sensed a "generic" monitor whose resolution it had no idea, but it actually labeled the monitor HMD-A400, and this was the absolute maximum resolution it allowed, and there was nothing between it and the 1600 x 1200 that is normally listed for this monitor. This extraordinarily high resolution worked with the monitor! Imagine. A 19" CRT that has more screen real estate than a 23" widescreen LCD. Has anyone else had a similar experience with Screen Spanning Doctor, or for that matter, hooking up any other CRT to a PowerBook?

I never saw that phenomena, but my iBook worked great spanning with a 19" LCD at 1280x1024. My new powerbook does it without a hack.

My CRT can support 1920x1440, that isn't that odd for CRTs to support high resolutions.
