i have lost the bar that you type into in Safari. I clicked to remove what I thought was a web address but the whole bar was gone. I cannot seem to find out how to bring it back.

Another method to achieve the same result:

Control-click or right click on the title bar.

I have tried right clicking and Customize toolbar but nothing happens. No google bar or normal bar that you type into (don't know what it is called).

Did you drag the default set back into place?

It's called a URL, which stands for Uniform Resource Locator. Just call it the bar thing you type into. ;)

When you see Customize Toolbar and select it, you should then see a "pop down" area with a bunch of "tools" for the "toolbar" in it. You should also see the instructions telling you to drag what you want into the toolbar. Are you telling us that you don't see any of this?

If you are seeing the pop down, to be clear, the toolbar is at the very top of your browser window. If you don't drag the tools all the way up there, they will not be added.

You can't if you don't see it. As suggested above, download Safari and reinstall it.

If you can't do that because you don't have that box thing you type in, try this:

Find the file named com.apple.safari.plist
It should be in Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences
Delete the file, then start up Safari. This will make a new file in the same place.

Now is everything there?

By the way, Safari is not technically part of the OSX Operating System. Most people place topics on Safari in the Applications Forum.
