In the UK there is a NHS app called MyChart. I have been helping my wife reset hers after she got a message telling her that her password has been compromised. I downloaded an app called MyChart and logged in last night but couldn’t log out. The app is supposed to logout automatically after 15 minutes but it was still open this morning. I compared her MyChart icon with mine and they were different so I deleted hers and installed the correct one. Is the previous app a rogue app and, if so, who should I report it to?

It might be a later version which would explain the different icon but usually new versions only modify the original icon. I'm assuming, perhaps erroneously, that both apps were downloaded from the UK Apple App Store. If not any suspicions you have can be investigated on the developers website. You can also view the version number to compare but a bit late for that.
"a message telling her that her password has been compromised" sounds fishy to me depending a little on how the message was received. If it was an email you should again check the developers website. Don't click any links in the email. If it was a popup dialogue box on the screen I would suspect your web browser, clearing the cookie cache in your browser is a good step but you may need to clear your History as well.
No matter what the issue I would just check the developers website and you may also find a reporting mechanism for suspected scams.
Last but not least my first step with this sort of thing is to do a web search for the dialogue in the message you received. Copy it exactly if you can and include the app Name. This will often turn up known scams and phishing attempts for that app.

The problem you might face is that the App is "sponsored" by various NHS Trusts across the country. What is not made clear - to me at any rate - is whether these Apps are directly linked to a specific Health Authority or whether the App is generic and can be used anywhere.

The above may explain why your wife's App "behaved" differently from yours. I doubt that her's was a fake because you can only get this App from Apple Store or from your Health Authority.

For example: Click on the Link below to see what I mean by the link to Specific Health Authorities:

My Chart NHS

Do come back with more questions if you are still in difficulty.

You probably know this but my comments might be useful to those who don't. If you search for MyChart or My Chart in the App Store you get the central/generic app. You're then asked for your location and the relevant NHS Trust. Trying to change my wife's password was difficult and I made no less than 5 attempts before getting it done. Once I had the correct app I could enable her to use touch id to access the app. Logging off now works.

Yes both apps were downloaded from the Apple Store but I don't know if it was the UK store. The message appeared when I tried to access MyChart from Safari. As her OSX is 10.13.6 access to Privacy is via Safari Preferences. None of her websites seem to have cookies.

The new password is an Apple Strong Password.

Yes @Alwyn, you're quite right. It's a bit of a mess - the different ways you can download the App and even its utility varies according to the Hospital/Area involved.

So much like the fiasco some years back where Trusts were supposed to "speak" to each other; only to find that different companies with different computer systems couldn't share data etc.
