How do you "right-click" on a MacBook without using a mouse?

I've tried taping the touchpad with two fingers, doesn't work.

Thanks :)

hey verbatim210, this is a setting which you have to enable..

Open System Preferences.
Select Keyboard & Mouse in the second row.
Click the Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click check box
Close the dialog box.
Using two fingers, tap the trackpad and a right-click (or context) menu opens

uh, who cares about this when a 2-finger tap can do it, but you can hold Ctrl and click for a right-click...this is for all you one-fingered chaps and ladies out there.:Smirk:

Yeh it's always good to know you have other options.

Sometimes the double tap lets me down, I need to do it a few times before it will work. Out of 10 tries, 1 would stuff up.

I'm not sure, is it just me?

You don't double tap on anything.

You put two fingers down on the trackpad and click the button.

The mouse/trackpad is a one-handed device, your method requires two hands. You can't drink coffee and Command-Click at the same time.

You don't double tap on anything.

You put two fingers down on the trackpad and click the button.

Configuring the tap-to-click method is easier, particularly for people like me who have large hands and have difficulty clicking the button and pressing the trackpad at the same time.

Like knightlie said, you can most definitely double tap for a secondary click. To be honest, I think this is a much better method than ctrl-clicking or putting two fingers on the trackpad and hitting the physical button.

Here here to that, double tap is the most brilliant invention in touchpad history. Simple yet genius.

While we're on the topic of "1 hand efficiency", anyone know how to "page-down" without the need for using the fn key?

I'm reading my slides in adobe and I need to page down. I can either:
-hold fn and press the down key or
-slide the touch pad down with two fingers

I'm really really lazy, I just want to page down using only 1 finger...

spacebar (shift-spacebar to go up)

Edit: nevermind, it's only working in Safari.

lol I must say, I found that quite funny...

Tried it in adobe anyway, and discovered spacebar works! :D

For Safari, I like to hold down "fn" and press "up/down".

Very interesting. I didn't know that option was available. :)

Take care, everyone - we're saying "double-tap" when we mean "two-fingered tap." Double-tap is going to confuse with double-clicking.
