I have a Macbook pro that is 3-4 years old. Naturally, the administrative user was my choosing. I am giving the laptop to my wife but naturally she wants the user name to be her. Could I add another user (her naming), give it full administrative abilities, copy all to her & then delete my name?

That should work. Unless there is something needed from your account you wouldn't need to copy anything from your account. Of course if there is any of your data there, back that up first. It might even be worth keeping a copy of your user folder.

Might I suggest that once you have set up her account set up a second user account with whatever password you wish to use. That account would be kept "clean" and used for troubleshooting purposes. If a problem occurs in one account but not in the "clean" account that points to something in the user files rather than the entire OS.
