Hi all, recently I had bookmarked a news site I used to like but decided to remove from bookmarks because of too many audio in-bursts into stories I was reading. Well ,I thought I had deleted it, however when I am opening the computer and ready to put in my code, I see the site keeps putting notifications of news on the top right of the screen. Why is it still hanging around? I searched through my bookmarks and it is apparently removed but it still shows up. How do I really delete the site?
Thanks everyone.

It sounds like the pop ups you are seeing are in the Notification Center. The following steps should fix the problem:
1. When Safari is open go to the Safari menu and go to Preferences.
2. In the window that appears click the Notifications tab.
3. A list appears with sites that have asked for permission to send notifications, Click the one that is giving you problems, select it, and choose Remove.

Let me ask you this, how do these sites get permission to send notifications , I suppose surreptitiously in a link somewhere? I would not normally allow that. However, your info fixed the problem and I thank you.btw it was the only site in this preferences page.

Notifications are the new "norm" for most news sites. Sometimes you don't even have to choose to receive them. Sites like Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites will automatically send you notifications until you turn them off. It's even worse if you own an iDevice and visit any of those sites. ;)

Most of the sites in my list popped up a dialog when I visited that asked for permission to send "push notifications". These were, for the most part, Mac/tech related sites.

My only problem with Notifications is that they do not stay up long enough for me to read them. Even with the screen resolution changed these old eyes have trouble reading print that size sometimes.
