I wonder if anyone can give me some advice,

A friend has asked me to wipe and reinstall Yosemite, I wiped the disk
and didnt have an apple id and password for the macbook so as
the laptop goes to download the operating system it now won't
let me as it stops when password has to be entered for apple ID.
Can anyone help with this problem.

Thank you

See if there is a Recovery partition by holding "command+R" down after you power the Mac on. This should let you re-install the most recent version of the Mac OS that was on this Mac.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

This is not Windows so why would you do this? Do you have everything backed up to an external hard drive? Do you actually have an Apple ID, this is not the admin password set up? How experienced is this 'friend'?

How did you wipe the hard drive?
