I have a thumb drive that can't be read on a Windows machine. I'm trying to transfer graphic files (JPEG) Is there a simple way to do this? Can it be reformatted to FAT?

How large is the thumb drive? It may be better to format it as ExFat since the standard Fat format has limitations. You can do the format from Disk Utility.

Yes, you can use FAT or as @chscag said, you can use exFAT. FAT limitation is it will only allow any single file up to 4GB, nothing larger.

Did you try to format the drive on the winOS machine you're trying to transfer to?

Thanks. I THINK I figured it out. Rename and reformat. Deleted the files reformatted to FAT 32 Does this look right? Should a Windows machine be able to view the files now? Screen Shot 2021-06-29 at 10.09.29 AM.png

Yes. That looks OK. As Bob mentioned, the FAT 32 format does not allow any single file that's larger than 4 GB.

I was unaware of that, thanks ! Fortunately, in this case the individual files are significantly smaller than that.

JEEEZ ...... Is there anything you guys don't know? I'm just gonna come here first, no matter what the question. 🤔 As a matter of fact, I'm having an issue with a Delorto carburetor on a '74 Ducati, might be the accelerator pump, not sure. What do you guys think? 😎

don't know about the rest of the folks here b ut there's tons of stuff I don't know. Including anything about the carb on that '74 Ducati. :)

Speaking for myself, I'd love to see pics of that machine.

The only "carbs" I know about are the ones that I'm supposed to avoid at dinner. :rofl
