recalibrating battery

I have a 2001 dual usb 600Mhz iBook and i was wondering how can i drain the battery to nothing since the machine will automatically go to standby when it gets low. on a pc i can just go to the bios and leave it till it died but on mac where can i go? I want to recalibrate the battery and/or try to clear the memory effect they have.
