He was 83. I liked his Spock character, but I really loved the "In Search of..." series from the late 1970's too.

Amen - He will be missed. I had forgotten he did the "In Search of" series after Rod Sterling died. I loved him in the original Star Trek series. I was very young when it came out in the '60's and it took special permission to be able to stay up and watch it on our old black and white TV. Good memories.

Yes, indeed a sad passing - :(

The TV series was 1966-69 - started my last undergraduate year in Ann Arbor, MI and ended half way though my medical school years - I probably watched nearly all of the episodes - :) Dave

Let's not forget the 2 or 3 years he appeared as "Paris" in the original "Mission Impossible" series on TV. Something that I watched faithfully, and even today one can see re-runs.

I of course enjoyed him as Spock, but I vividly remember catching him performing the play "Theo" (about Vincent Van Gogh's brother) in the early days of A&E on cable, and realising that he was genuinely a very skilled actor, not just good at playing Spock. After that, I followed his career with interest. Fascinating guy, really.

Yeah, I'm definitely sad to see him go. I was kind of wondering about this lately, when it would happen, since it seemed like he was kind of reaching "that age."

Actors like him and the little bits of wisdom he spouted were one of the ways I always bridged the gap to people like my dad who was not really a Star Trek fan but still liked to talk philosophy and stuff -- his favorite line from Spock was always, "The needs of the many..."

"In Search Of" seems like one of those shows from my childhood that I can barely remember but had interesting stories, kind of wrapped up in mystery and whatnot.

I liked hib best as Spock. I've been reluctant to see any of the other Spocks since. I think one of my favorite episodes of the old series is when he gets hit by spores and becomes emotional. At one point Kirk is deliberately trying to make Spock mad and a believe refers to him as a "mutinous, disloyal, half-breed elf". The look on his face was priceless.

I didn't see the IN Search Of series until a few years ago when the appeared on one of the History Channels.

When I got back from my service overseas, both the miniskirt and Star Trek had come out. Loved them both. Actually, I still do. Had all 79 episodes on VCR and later DVD and now as MP4. Still watch them from time to time.

R.I.P. Leonard AKA Spock. Loved you then and love you now. \V/

Has anyone priced the original series (seasons 1 - 3) on DVD or re-mastered to Blue Ray?

Here's a LINK from Amazon.com. $$$

Yikes! I think I will just keep using Netflix. I have all three years on VHS. I am not motivated to convert it yet. I need to do it - I guess.....

There will, inevitably, be a sale. You should treat yourself though, and watch the remastered episodes of classic Star Trek. The updated effects, very tastefully done, really bring the show into the modern era.

Last night, I decided to stream the original TV series of Star Trek - these are available for free w/ Amazon Prime - good restoration a bonus - episode 2 shows a very young & good looking Robert Walker, Jr. (mother was Jennifer Jones) - Dave :)

I too watched StarTrek religiously as a kid and repeats later as adult as well. The guest appearances in the search for Spock, the Mission Impossible series and more recently his part as Bell in the Fringe series an edgy Sci Fi TV series which I can highly recommend for lovers of the genre although he does not appear in the flesh until the last season.
Well played Leonard, sorry to see you go.:'(
