Quicktime

Im not sure where to post this so I apologize if im in the wrong place.

Anyways, ive been having trouble with qucktime opening .avi files. Is Quicktime unable to open this type of file or do i need some sort of Quicktime plug-in that allows me to open .avi files?

there is no definitive answer - it depends on who made the .avi
and quicktime will therefore open some, but not always.

pure pot luck, but if you have software such as vlc it will open and play
nearly all

Try downloading an installing Perian http://www.perian.org or http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/30931
