Quicktime - Mac to PC - plays dark

When I author a QT movie (mov or mpg) in iMovie and play it on a PC - it plays significantly darker.

Does anyone know why that is?

Is there another fix, other than adjusting the "brightness" blindly?. Does this happen in Final Cut Pro also?
