My first iMac just about to arrive. I want to use Quicken UK 2004 with Parallels and Windows. Has anybody had success with this and what is the minimum version of Windows required? Thanks!

I'd suggest windows XP. Quicken 2004 has issues in anything beyond that. Unless you have already bought Parallels I'd use VirtualBox instead.

Though I would seriously consider finding a way to move beyond 2004. It's no longer supported and as time goes on you'll find it harder and harder to find a platform for it to run on.

Many thanks for your reply mrplow. I am already using Quicken with Windows 7 on my PC with no problem but the Windows licence is for a single machine. No, I've not yet bought Parallels and would be interested to know why you prefer VirtualBox.

The thought of moving on from the unsupported 2004 version is rather daunting since to date I've not seen an alternative which will comprehensibly manage nearly 20 years of personal financial data. Again, if you have any suggestions I'd be very pleased to hear.

Cheers!

VirtualBox is free and if you no need for the enhanced graphics capabilities of Parallels or VMWare fusion then there's little point having the outlay.

I appreciate that moving forward with a financial is daunting but it will come to a point where you cannot run Quicken 2004 any more. I've managed Sage users that have similar issues.

I'd seriously consider moving to a later version of quicken while you can run the two side by side if you need to until you have confidence in the new moving forward

Thanks, will look into VirtualBox. There isn't a later UK version of Quicken, just QuickBooks for business users as far as I know.
