It is my understanding that the dual 1.8 powermac supports up to 4gb of ram, and has 4 slots. The slots dont have to be balanced, do they?

For instance, Can i have 1-1GB Stick, 1-256 stick, and 2-512 sticks?

thanks!

oh son of a.. i orderd my 1gb stick overnighted so id get it tomorrow, i guess itll be useless.. so how does the tower come? 2 128 sticks? thats a little cheap on apples end... on a 2,000 computer..

Yep, sending out a computer with only 256 megs of ram really sucks, but at the price apple charges for ram it's a lot cheaper to buy your own than to have them install it...other wise that $2,000 computer would be $2,300... and all dual processors require ram in matching pairs.

i guess ill be going to compusa tomorrow to buy another 1gb stick

Put 1 1gig stick in the first slot on both banks and 1 512 stick in the second slot that will give you a good amount till you get rich and are able to buy 2 more 1 gigers...
