I bought a PC2100 from the Apple Store, i saw it and it was a PC2100. Now, could someone please explain me why System Profiler says that the extra memory module is a PC2700U-25330?

Some memory modules have stickers on them....Check if the sticker on the memory stick actually says PC2100. The company might have accidentally packaged the wrong Ram. Also do the apple hardware test. Put CD 3 in that came with your computer in and after the start up chime hold C to boot from CD. See what i says after the memory test has completed. Other than that i have no clue.... good luck. But its not a bad thing... you have more powerful ram than what you paid for.

i believe that they are backwards compatible; for instance; a 2700 module "clocks down" to 2100 standards.

Acording to the iBook's manual the speed is clocked down to PC2100 (266mhz).

You are correct. Apple even puts PC3200 in the mac mini when it only requires PC2700. It isn't uncommon to find the faster memory for cheaper, so it makes sense to just use the faster stuff even though there is no speed benefit.
