OSX Sound Problem! - CNET Mac OS Forums
Basically, I have the exact same problem. Restarting the computer does not seem to help.
Nothing has been manually or humanly muted, and it is not connected to anything but the 'Built-in Output'.
Sometimes it'll make clicking noises, and the sound will work until it starts clicking again. When it clicks, the little sound button on the toolbar's wave signs will fluctuate in amount.
I'm afraid it might be a virus? I got it after I uploaded the Across the Universe soundtrack, from a CD.
Would it possibly eliminate this problem if I deleted the songs?
And I cannot unmute it. Even in the System Preferences window.
Thanks to anyone who can help, I really only joined because I needed this question to be answered.
