I am new to MACs so please bare with me... :)

i am trying to install Panther on my girlfriend's iMAC. She has 9.2 as well as OS X on it. I downloaded Panther and it is a .DMG file.

What do I have to do to install it? I tried copying it to the desktop and clicking it, etc but it doesnt work. What do I need to do?

Have you tried moving the download to the Applications folder/directory and expanding it there?

You know, if she doesn't have Panther, and you downloaded Panther right off of Apple's site, it's not going to work, because that only upgrade Panther to fix some bugs and stuff like that.

sorry...what i meant was...

i downloaded the fixes, etc from apple's site to fix any bugs, etc after i install Panther. But i cant install it, because I dont know how to install the original Panther OS. She has 10.1 installed. When I click on the file after placing it on the desktop it says "click restart below to restart and start install" but when it restarts, nothing happens. I dont know if its because it is a .dmg file or what. I am not familiar with any of it
