I've always been able to open iTunes and start playing music then go about surfing the net. A couple of days ago when I opened iTunes my Safari screen would slide over the the whole screen would become the iTunes site blocking everything including the pulldown menu. I'm on an iMac OS X 10.9.5 and using iTunes 12.0.1. Any suggestions?

You likely put iTunes into Full Screen mode. Move the cursor to the top of the iTunes window and let it stay for a moment and the iTunes title-bar will appear. Click the green icon on the left and it will return to windowed mode and you can minimize it from there and continue with your Safari use.

THe other option is to use CTRL + left arrow to return to your other spaces and use Safari there. You can also use a three finger swipe on a trackpad or two finger swipe on the Magic Mouse..
