I was wondering if anyone here could give me some advice. I was recently using my MacBook and the screen suddenly went black. I tried moving my mouse around, and when that didn't work I tried switching it on by using the power button, but that didn't work either. No matter how long I held the power button down for, it wouldn't switch on!

So I tried plugging it into the power chord, but that didn't make any difference, and what's more, the light on the MagSafe connector went yellow instead of the usual amber or green.

I know it's not the chord, because I've tried the laptop on other chords, and the exact same thing happens. Also the chord works fine on other computers. I'm so frustrated, and have no idea what to do! Please help!

Have you tried removing the battery completely and running just with the power adapter?

Arrg!

Light dawns... thanks, you've saved me a trip to the mac store! I was really hoping it wasn't the battery, as we've had problems with mac books and batteries before...

Keep in mind that Apple has extended the battery warranty on some MacBooks and MacBook Pros for two years. I've had mine replaced by calling AppleCare. It was on my doorstep within 24 hours.
