I have a PowerMac G4 (Digital Audio Model). It only has a CD ROM drive in it and I would like to install a DVD R/RW optical drive. Barring details I got my hands on a Phillips DVD8801 drive. I tried to install it but when I try to use it any DVD or CD I put in the drive just shows up as a blank disc (also it takes eternity to mount). To my understanding compatibility issues exist with Macs and some optical drives. Therefore, does anyone know if there is a compatibility problem with this drive (I couldn't find anything that went either way in a google search). If not, any thoughts on what I can do to get this optical drive working properly.... manual driver install, etc. ?
