Hi. I just purchased this 1.67GH 15" powerbook on ebay. It had a DVD stuck in the drive but I was able to get it to eject by putting it to sleep and when it woke up the DVD drive would spin so using my AAA card it finally ejected the DVD. The drive spins but isn't shown under "about this mac". Is there any hope for this drive? The DVD that was stuck was the install disk so I thought maybe something just isn't installed right. If I put a DVD in it would pull it in but I haven't let it because I figure it wouldn't eject again. Any help will be much appreciated.

If it is spinning up and not recognizing any discs, then the drive likely needs to be replaced.
I have a 1.67 PowerBook that had the same issue about a year ago. I sent it to Apple and they replaced it free, as I was still under warranty at the time.
Check to see if there is any warranty left on your machine at the Apple Support site. If there is, you may very well get the drive replaced for free.
