I have a powerbook 1400c. I am looking to rebuild the battery. I have already gotten it taken apart, and even know what cells I need (3500mah 1.2v nimh cells) but how do I connect them? I've seen this video on how to rebuild laptop batteries but mine looks much more... "complicated". like it has a lot more boards and things conencting the batteries. Has anyone here rebuilt a battery for this laptop, or know a good place to go to figure out how?

You connect them EXACTLY the same way they came apart.:)

After opening the plastic battery case for the Powerbook 1400...the first thing that should have been done was make a VERY careful sketch of how the battery cells were positioned & soldered together.

Even better...taken multiple photos with a digital camera or smartphone camera.

I replied in the early hours this morning with a youtube video of someone doing exactly that, a PowerBook 400c battery rebuild, but it seems my post never made it.
I will see if I can find the video again.
However,my first question to the OP is - does he have a source of matched cells?
If not, there is no point in going any further.

PS: Found part 1 of the video:

Long long ago I owned a PB1400. I did consider replacing the cells in my battery, but the PB died before I got around to it. I do remember the case simply contained the cells and a thermal fuse. Newer PB batteries contained PCB's to control charging, but not the 1400.

So, I'm trying to rebuild this battery pack, I was able to open it by using an xacto razor knife along the edge that has the contacts, it was kinda plastic welded, the rest seemed to be claws. The replacement cells I bought were too small, I think I'll need to find half length cells and tack them together, so don't wake what those new cells are in the picture, they're the wrong ones.
